Can the name Gonzalez be italian?
Italy was under Spanish rule for little more than a century (between 1525 to circa 1700). As a result many Spaniards settled in Italy. Therefore it is not uncommon to see Italian people with Spanish sounding names such as "Enriques" and "Gonzalez".
