What kind of cat is good for an old woman?

My 80 year old grandmother wants to get a cat as a companion for her. My grandpa died in February and she's really lonely. She needs a buddy. We don't live by her so we can go and visit her too often. Nothing too hyper, just a good cat thats NOT high maintenance. Just something very friendly that would want to snuggle with her.
